Short Story

The Havana informal settlement is regarded to be for the poorest, but ‘poor’ doesnt have to mean ‘dirty’. I decided that we are going to keep it clean and improve it ourselves.

Living in a clean environment helps us live a healthy life. I know, informal settlements are not really the best places to live in, but I will do whatever it takes to keep it clean, and I also educate the people in my environment to help clean up and to continue keeping the community clean as well. So, I will appreciate whatever you can help me with .

Wetu Cleaning Project

I came up with this project in 2016, and the reason why I decided to do it is because the Havana location is very dirty and I do not find it healthy to live in a dirty environment.  I started this because I did not get any job. Rather then getting money by stealing  I believe in working, and instead of sitting at home doing nothing, I decided to start cleaning peoples houses and toilets for a little income. In addition to the cleaning work I do for money, I want my community to actually benefit by me cleaning  in the community for free. In order to do this, I would need some cleaning items and equipment.

Budget:

Wheelbarrow (*1): N$450.00, Vacuum Machine (*1): N$6000.00, Plastic bag (*1o): N$2500.00, Boots (*2): N$480.00, Overalls (*2): N$220.00, Brooms (*2): N$100.00, Mopp (*2): N$1oo.oo, Spade (*1): N$150.00, Gloves (*2): N$ 100.00, Emergency funds: N$ 800.00 Total     N$ 10,900.00
