Short Story

2 by 2 Community Project is located in Havana, Katutura at the outskirts of Windhoek, Namibia’s capital.

While working with youth and elders of the Havana community over the last few years, I realised the need for a multi-purpose hall for the community to hold meetings or training in order to stimulate more activity in the community and to help spread important information in a more effective and cooperative way.

After consulting with the Honorable Martin, Regional Councilor of Moses //Garoeb Constituency, to find the appropriate space for the community hall, I decided to erect a large enough structure on the premises next to my house in Havana.

I already saved up N$ 11,000 for constructing the multi-porpose community hall, so I created this campaign now to make sure that we will have enough chairs and tables for community members to come together.

About

I am OnesmusShetunyenga, born on 5 January 1967 in a village called Iino in Elimi Constituency in Omusati Region. I am currently fifty years old, the first born of nine. I am married and have two children. I attended school at Okando Senior until Grade 6, then Grade 7 - 10 at Nuujoma Senior Secondary School. In 1994 I came to Windhoek where I completed Grade 12 at A Shipena Senior Secondary School. From there I completed a course at KAYEC on Entrepreneurship, Business Management Skills and Starting your Own Business. With all the knowledge that I acquired from KAYEC, I then started a project for Security Guards. From 2014 to 2016 I met NUST students who worked together with trainers from RLabs in Havana, and I took part in courses like Events Management and Social Innovation, as well as in a project for Entrepreneurship in Havana. I am passionate about business, entrepreneurship and helping those around me. It is very important for me to live by example to my fellow Namibians and to think and be realistic. My motto is: Start small but Dream Big!

Breakdown of Costs:

30 plastic chairs and 3 plastic tables = N$ 7,000 in total

1 plastic chair = N$ 150 x 30 = N$4,500

1 table = N$ 700 x 3 = N$ 2,100

Rewards

N$500 or more

For every N$ 500+ received, I will offer a bookkeeping training for two members of the Havana community.
